Neomycin sulfate is an antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides. Acts against gram-positive bacteria — Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Bacillus spp. and most gram-negative — Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp. etc.

Nystatin is an antibiotic of the polyene group. Has a fungicidal effect, effective against pathogenic fungi of the genera Malassezia, Candida, Aspergillus. It binds to the sterols of the fungal cell membrane, due to which it loses its ability to function as a selective barrier.

Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid with acaricidal and insecticidal properties. Causes a violation of the ion permeability of sodium channels and inhibition of the processes of polarization (repolarization) of the membranes of nerve cells of lice, fleas, ticks and other arthropods, which leads to their paralysis. In dogs and cats, it destroys ticks of the species Otodectes cynotis.

Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic fluorine-containing glucocorticoid with pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, desensitizing and sedative properties. Suppresses the functions of leukocytes and tissue macrophages. Limits the migration of leukocytes in areas of inflammation. Violates the ability of macrophages to phagocytosis and the formation of interleukin-1. Contributes to the stabilization of lysosomal membranes, reducing the concentration of proteolytic enzymes at the site of inflammation. Reduces the permeability of capillaries caused by the release of histamine.

Neomycin sulfate, nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide are not absorbed through the skin and inner membranes of the ears. Absorption of permethrin through the skin does not exceed 2%. Absorbed permethrin, after entering the systemic circulation, is rapidly hydrolyzed to inactive metabolites and excreted in the urine.

Indication
Treatment of otitis and dermatitis of the external auditory canal in dogs and cats caused by bacteria, fungi, mites (including Otodectes cynotis) sensitive to neomycin, permethrin and nystatin.

Contraindication
Do not prescribe to animals with increased sensitivity to the active substances of the drug, with perforation of the tympanic membrane, pregnant, lactating and productive animals.

Do not use in cats weighing less than 1.5 kg and kittens under 8 weeks of age.

Do not use simultaneously with other aminoglycosides and auricular drugs.

Method of application and dosage
Before using the drug, perform hygienic cleaning of the auricle and auditory canal. A small amount of ointment (approximately 5 mm) is injected into the ear canal, gently massaged around the ear, and the excess is removed near the auricle. The drug is used once a day until complete recovery.

For otodectosis, the course of treatment is 21 days (the period of the reproductive cycle of Otodectes cynotis ticks), the ointment is applied to both ears, even if only one is affected.

Reservation
Before using the drug, you should make sure that there is no perforation of the tympanic membrane.

When using the product in the recommended doses, side effects and complications are usually not observed. In case of an overdose, skin irritation in the auricle and auditory canal may occur. Sometimes older animals have hearing disorders that do not require treatment. Cats may occasionally develop neurological symptoms (locomotor ataxia, tremors). In this case, treatment with the drug should be stopped.
