Description:
Cefovecin sodium as an injection.
Long plasma half-life, meaning one injection provides up to 14 days of antibacterial therapy in one dose.
Directions for use:
Treatment of bacterial infections in dogs and cats.
Dogs
Skin infections including bacterial folliculitis, wounds and abscesses caused by susceptible strains of
Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, Streptococcus canis (group G, ß-hemolytic), E. coli and Proteus mirabilis.
Urinary tract infections (cystitis) associated with susceptible strains of E. coli, P. mirabilis and S. taph. intermedius.
As an adjunct to mechanical or surgical periodontal therapy in the treatment of severe gingival and periodontal infections associated with Porphyromonas spp. and Prevotella spp.
Cats
Skin infections including abscesses and wounds caused by susceptible strains of Pasteurella multocida, Strep. canis (group G, ß-hemolytic) and Staphylococcus pseudintermedius.
Urinary tract infections associated with susceptible strains of E. coli.
Pack Size:
Lyophilized in a vial, supplied with 10 ml sterile water for reconstitution.
Provides a guaranteed course of treatment in a single injection, eliminating the problem of compliance.
Proven to be as effective as commonly used oral antibiotics in clinical trials, but is likely to be more effective in real-world situations due to guaranteed compliance.
Proven efficacy and safety in the treatment of skin, soft tissue and urinary tract infections in dogs and cats, as well as periodontal infections in dogs.
Dosage:
1 ml/10 kg subcutaneously for the indications listed above.
A second dose may be administered 14 days after the first dose in cases of skin infections in dogs, if warranted.
Storage:
Refrigerate before and after reconstitution.
Shelf life after reconstitution is 28 days. Colour change within 56 days of reconstitution is expected and does not affect the efficacy or safety of the product.
