🟢 DOSAGE:
🔹When treating the eyes, the drug is instilled into the conjunctival sac 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day. In difficult cases, 1-2 drops are instilled into the conjunctival sac every 2-3 hours for the first 1-2 days), then at the usual dose.
🔹In the treatment of ear diseases, the drug is instilled into the auditory canal 1-4 drops (depending on the weight of the animal) 2-3 times a day until the symptoms of inflammation completely disappear.

In the presence of significant purulent or mucopurulent discharge, preliminary hygienic treatment of the eyes or ears is carried out, after which the drug is instilled.
The course of treatment until complete recovery is 5-10 days.
Do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface to avoid contamination of the contents of the vial.
⚠️CONTRAINDICATION:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug (including in the history), glaucoma and corneal ulceration.
Do not use concurrently with tetracyclines, macrolides, lincosamides, cyclosporines, chloramphenicol.
Do not use for viral and fungal infections of the eyes and ears.
Do not use during vaccinations.
Do not use in horses.
Do not use concurrently with theophylline and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as with drugs containing magnesium, aluminum and calcium cations, which bind to ofloxacin and prevent its absorption.
Do not use if resistant strains of pathogens are detected.

After eye drops, local symptoms of discomfort, irritation, itching, tearing may sometimes occur, which quickly pass, and sometimes - allergic reactions. With long-term use, the development of secondary glaucoma, steroid cataracts, corneal thinning is possible.
⚠️Use with caution in animals under 7 days of age and pregnant animals.
🟢 COMPOSITION OF THE MEDICINE:
1 ml of the drug contains active substances:
dexamethasone (in the form of dexamethasone sodium phosphate) - 1.0 mg;
ofloxacin - 3.0 mg.
Excipients: sodium thiosulfate, trilon B, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, water for injection.
🟢PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES:
DUODEX ear and eye drops are a combined chemotherapeutic agent that combines a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group (ofloxacin) and a glucocorticosteroid (dexamethasone) and has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effects.

🔹Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid with strong anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, anti-allergic and other hormonal and metabolic effects.
The anti-inflammatory effect of dexamethasone is 30 times greater than that of natural cortisol and 7-10 times greater than that of prednisolone. Dexamethasone prevents the development of the inflammatory process: redness, swelling, pain. Inhibits capillary expansion and phagocytosis, stabilizes lysosomal enzymes of leukocyte membranes, inhibits kinin synthesis, leukocyte mitosis and migration, inhibits antibody synthesis and prevents allergic reactions occurring after exposure to antigen Dexamethasone affects gluconeogenesis, displacing glycogen in protein and calcium metabolism, delaying the secretion of corticotropin.

Anti-inflammatory effect after instillation lasts for 4-8 hours. After topical application, systemic absorption is low. After instillation into the eyes, dexamethasone penetrates well into the corneal epithelium, conjunctival cells and into the anterior chamber fluid of the eye, the maximum concentration of 30 ng / ml is observed after 2 hours, the half-life is 3 hours. After application to the ears, the maximum concentration in the blood is observed after 15-90 minutes.
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group, active against Gram-negative microorganisms, namely: Esherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Camphylobacter spp., Yersinia spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa Vibrio spp., Aeromonas spp., Haemophilus spp., Serratia spp., Chlamydia spp.. Active against some Gram-positive microorganisms, in particular Staphylococcus spp. (including penicillinase-producing and methicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus spp.. Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas spp., Streptococcus pheumoniae are moderately sensitive to ofloxacin. Brucella spp., Mycoplasma spp., Mycobacterium spp. are also sensitive to the drug.
MThe mechanism of action of ofloxacin is the inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II), which stops the spiraling process and DNA synthesis.
A significant advantage of the drug compared to other antibiotics used topically is its high permeability to the cornea and anterior chamber of the eye. Of all fluoroquinolones, ofloxacin has the best ability to penetrate the cornea and anterior chamber of the eye, its effective concentration in the tear film is maintained for up to 4 hours (240 minutes) after application. When ofloxacin is applied locally, the therapeutic concentration in the eye tissues is achieved after 30-60 minutes. Systemic reabsorption after local administration to the conjunctival sac is insignificant and has no clinical significance. After a single injection of the drug into the ear, the concentration of ofloxacin in the blood serum was 1000 times lower than the concentration after oral administration. STORAGE:
