Composition
1 ml of the drug contains:
active substances: amoxicillin (amoxicillin trihydrate) - 150 mg; gentamicin (gentamicin sulfate) - 40 mg;
auxiliary substance - vegetable oil.
Pharmacological properties
ATS vet QJ01RA01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use. Combinations of antibacterial agents. Penicillins, combinations with other antibacterial agents.
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic belonging to the group of penicillins. It is active against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp. strains that produce penicillinase, Clostridium spp., Arcanobacterium spp., Bacillus anthracis, Listeria monocytogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae) and gram-negative microorganisms (Pasteurella spp., Mannheimia haemolytica, Haemophillus spp., Actinobacillus spp. , Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Moraxella spp. and Fusobacterium spp.). Amoxicillin delays the synthesis of mucopeptide - one of the components of the bacterial cell wall, which gives the microorganism mechanical stability, and thus has a destructive effect on bacteria in the phase of its growth.
Gentamicin belongs to aminoglycoside antibiotics. It has a bactericidal effect on gram-negative microorganisms, namely: Enter robacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. and Shigella spp. Gentamicin is also effective against the following gram-positive bacteria: Treponema hyodysenteriae, Staphylococcus aureus and β-hemolytic Streptococcus. It acts directly on ribosomes, where it inhibits the biosynthesis of proteins and reduces the accuracy of translation of the genetic code. Penetration of gentamicin into a bacterial cell increases when the permeability of its wall increases due to the influence of amoxicillin. Such synergism allows the use of fewer aminoglycosides.
The combination of amoxicillin and gentamicin creates a wide antibacterial spectrum of action of the drug on gram-positive (mainly streptococci, staphylococci and corynebacteria) and gram-negative microorganisms (in particular, Escherichia coli, Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp. and Pseudomonas spp.). This combination improves the therapeutic properties of each of these antibiotics used separately.
Indications for use
Treatment of animals with diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin and gentamicin:
pigs - with pneumonia, diarrhea, enteritis, colibacteriosis, metritis, mastitis;
sheep and goats - with pneumonia, diarrhea, enteritis, pasteurellosis, colibacteriosis;
cattle - with pneumonia, diarrhea, enteritis, mastitis, metritis, superficial abscess;
horses - for pneumonia, diarrhea, enteritis, superficial abscess, as well as for diseases of the genitourinary system and limbs.
Method of application and dosage
The drug is administered intramuscularly in a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight once a day for 3–5 days. Before use, the bottle with the drug is thoroughly shaken.
Contraindications
Do not prescribe with increased individual sensitivity to amoxicillin and gentamicin. Do not apply to non-target animals. Do not administer to rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and other small herbivorous animals. It does not apply to animals with impaired function of kidneys, hearing organs and vestibular apparatus.
Warning
Slaughter of animals for meat is permitted 30 days after the last use of the drug. Meat received before the specified period is disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the conclusion of the doctor of veterinary medicine.
