Sterile isotonic aqueous solution of recombinant -interferon, total protein <15 mcg / ml.
Pharmaceutical form
Sterile isotonic aqueous solution. Transparent, colorless, slightly opalescent liquid.
Immunobiological properties
1 ml contains feline interferon 400,000 IU as an active substance.
Excipients: glacial acetic acid - 0.0045 ml, sodium acetate - 1.62 mg, sodium chloride - 5.82 mg, polysorbate 20 - 0.2 mg, sodium EDTA, water for injection up to 1 ml.
Ketferon has an antiviral and immunostimulating effect. The mechanism of action consists in suppressing the reproduction of DNA and RNA viruses in infected cells, increasing the resistance of healthy cells of the body to viral infection, enhancing the phagocytic activity of macrophages and increasing the specific cytotoxicity of lymphocytes.

Indications for use
The drug Ketferon is used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes in cats with gastrointestinal, acute respiratory and other diseases of viral or mixed etiology.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to IFN drugs; severe forms of allergic diseases. It is not recommended to use Ketferon after vaccination of animals for 10 days.

Special reservations for use
The dosage should not exceed 1.5 times the loading dose per day for a course of up to 5 days, and 0.75 times the dose for subsequent treatment. An opened solution is stored for no more than 12 hours at 4-8°C.

Interaction with other drugs and other forms of interaction
The drug should not be used simultaneously with drugs that have immunosuppressive properties.
Doses and route of administration to animals of all ages
The drug Ketferon is administered intramuscularly.
For prophylactic purposes (if there is a risk of infection), the drug is prescribed in a dose of 200,000 IU, twice with an interval of 48 hours.
For the treatment of panleukopenia, calicivirus, herpesvirus, the drug is administered in a daily dose of 200,000 IU, for 5-7 days in combination with antibiotics, serum and immunoglobulin preparations, according to the instructions for their use.
In severe cases of panleukopenia, calicivirus, herpesvirus, the average therapeutic dose is recommended to be increased by 2 times - 400,000 IU.
For animals diagnosed with feline viral leukemia or feline viral immunodeficiency, the drug Ketferon is used according to the following scheme: 400,000 IU for 7 days, then 400,000 IU on the 9th, 11th, 13th day of therapy in accordance with the instructions for their use. Treatment should be carried out by a veterinarian with experience in the treatment of chronic viral infections in cats.
The use of the drug Ketferon should be carried out under the control of a general blood test (before the start and after the end of the course). The timing of repeated courses is determined by the veterinarian for each animal individually according to clinical indications.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency measures, antidotes)
Some animals may experience fever, lethargy, drowsiness when given an increased dose, and the above reactions disappear after a while. In case of individual sensitivity and allergic reactions, the drug is discontinued and antihistamines are prescribed to the animal.

Main forms of incompatibility
