🚑 For the treatment of dogs and cats with chronic and acute bacterial infections, the causative agents of which are sensitive to ciprofloxacin:
🔹 respiratory tract infections;
🔹 gastrointestinal and biliary tract infections;
🔹 kidney and/or urinary tract infections;
🔹 genital infections;
🔹 skin and soft tissue infections;
🔹 bone and joint infections;
🔹 secondary infections in viral diseases. 🟢 DOSAGE:
Ciprofloxacin is administered individually orally to animals once a day for 3-5 days at a dose of:
🔹 15 mg tablets - 1 tablet for every 3 kg of animal weight
🔹 50 mg tablets - 1 tablet for every 10 kg of animal weight
⚠ PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:
With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to fluoroquinolones and the appearance of symptoms of side effects (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, ataxia, sleep disorders, convulsions, heart rhythm disturbances, skin rashes, swelling, tendonitis and arthropathy), the use of the drug is discontinued and desensitization therapy is carried out. Do not prescribe together with nitrofurantoin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol.
⚠ CONTRAINDICATION:
During treatment, avoid intense sunlight to prevent the development of photosensitivity reactions. The drug must not be used: in the case of pronounced disorders of cartilage development; with changes in the nervous system, which are accompanied by convulsions; females during pregnancy and lactation; puppies and kittens before the end of the growth period.
🟢 Pharmacological properties:
Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial drug from the fluoroquinolone group with a broad spectrum of action.
The drug acts on Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms, especially on E. coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Serratia spp., Camphylobacter spp., Pseudomonas are also sensitive to the drug. (including strains producing penicillinase and resistant to methicillin), Mycoplasma spp., Mycobacterium spp.
The mechanism of action of ciprofloxacin is based on the inhibition of bacterial DNA - gyrase (topoisomerase II), which affects the replication of the DNA helix and leads to a violation of protein synthesis and the death of the microorganism.
Ciprofloxacin in recommended doses does not have a local irritating and resorption-toxic effect, it does not have embryotoxic and teratogenic properties.
