Composition
1 ml of the drug contains active substances: fenthion - 2 mg; alpha-cypermethrin - 2 mg.
Excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide, benzyl alcohol, 1,2-propylene glycol, glycerin, isopropyl alcohol.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet QP53, ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents.
Effektvet is a combined drug that includes fenthion and alpha-cypermethrin.
Fenthion is an insecticide from the group of organic thiophosphorus compounds, the mechanism of action of which is to block the enzyme acetylcholinesterase in the nervous synapses of the parasite, which leads to its death. Fenthion poorly penetrates the blood-brain barrier of warm-blooded animals, but when applied externally it is absorbed through the skin and enters the blood. Blood-sucking parasites die when fenthion with animal blood enters their body.
Alpha-cypermethrin has repellent properties, it is a contact synthetic pyrethroid with a broad spectrum of insecticidal action, which blocks the transmission of nerve impulses, causing incoordination, paralysis and death of ectoparasites. It is quickly metabolized and excreted from the body, so it does not accumulate in animal tissues.
After applying the drug to the skin, the active substances accumulate in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the animal and have a long-lasting insectocaricidal effect.
Application
Prevention and treatment of dogs and cats affected by ectoparasites: fleas, lice, hair eaters, ixode ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes ricinus, Amblyomma americanum), scabies mites Sarcoptes scabiei, etc., and also used for sarcoptosis, notohedros, ear scabies (otodectosis), babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, leishmaniasis and other diseases caused by ectoparasites.
Dosage
Externally. Before treating the animal, the bottle is thoroughly shaken and by pressing the spray cap, the spray of the drug is directed to the body of the animal at a distance of 10-15 cm and to the skin of the auricle. The drug is applied to the entire surface of previously disheveled wool at the rate of 0.5-1 ml per 1 kg of body weight, that is, from 4 to 9 clicks on the spray head of bottles with a capacity of 100 ml or 2-5 clicks for bottles with a capacity of 250 ml.
When spraying the drug, hold the bottle vertically. Apply the drug against the coat, comb long-haired animals with a brush, trying to apply the drug so that it gets on the skin. To treat the head and ears, the drug should be applied to the hand in a rubber glove and gently rubbed into the fur.
When animals are affected by ixodid ticks, the drug is applied directly to the tick and the place of its attachment to the skin (one click on the spray head). If the tick does not fall off involuntarily within 20-30 minutes, then it is carefully pulled out with tweezers.
In order to prevent the repeated invasion of animals by ectoparasites, it is necessary to periodically replace or treat the bedding with the drug at the rate of 4-6 ml (35-52 clicks on the spray head of bottles with a capacity of 100 ml or 17-26 clicks for bottles with a capacity of 250 ml) per 1 m2 of the treated surface. Animals are not allowed to come in contact with treated objects for three days, and before further use they are washed with detergents.
In case of notohedrosis in cats and sarcoptosis in dogs, the drug is applied to the affected areas of the body that have been previously cleaned of scabs and crusts, with the capture of borderline healthy skin up to 1 cm. ml or 5 pressures for bottles with a capacity of 250 ml) per 10 cm2 of the affected area, 2-5 times with an interval of 5-7 days until the animal's clinical recovery.
Animals with large areas of damage are treated in two doses with an interval of 1 day, applying the drug to the affected areas first from one and then from the other half of the body.
In the treatment of otodectosis, the auricles and auditory canal are cleaned in advance of earwax, exudate and scabs, then applied in each ear - 1-2 clicks on the spray head of bottles with a capacity of 100 ml or 1 click for bottles with a capacity of 250 ml. Processing is carried out 2-3 times with an interval of 3-5 days.
For even distribution of the drug, the auricle is folded and lightly massaged, fixing the animal's head for 5-10 minutes, to avoid splashing of the drug. The drug is injected into both ears!
