COMPOSITION AND FORM OF RELEASE
Dosage form: tablets for oral administration.
Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor are available in 3 dosages: weighing 0.055 g, 0.183 g and 0.55 g. In 1 tablet, the drug contains enrofloxacin as an active substance, respectively, 15 mg, 50 mg and 150 mg, and as auxiliary substances: mannitol, corn starch, sodium starch glycolate, meat flavoring agent 10022, methacrylic acid copolymer, sodium lauryl sulfate, dibutyl sebacate, sodium croscarmellose, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc and magnesium stearate.
In appearance, the drug is a round, slightly biconvex, light-brown tablet with white or dark inclusions, with a score line on one side (dosages 50 mg and 150 mg) and a beveled edge.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor belong to the antibacterial drugs of the fluoroquinolone group.
Enrofloxacin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus hyicus, Streptococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Campylobacter spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes, Proteus spp., Mycoplasma spp., Brucella canis, Actinobacillus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Haemophillus spp., Clostridium perfringens.
After oral administration, enrofloxacin is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the body. Its maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 1.5-2.0 hours and is maintained at a therapeutic level for 24 hours. Enrofloxacin is excreted from the animal body mainly unchanged with urine and bile.
Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor are classified as low-hazard substances according to the degree of impact on the body (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
APPLICATION
It is prescribed to dogs and cats for diseases of the respiratory, genitourinary and digestive systems, as well as soft tissues and otitis, infected wounds, the pathogens of which are sensitive to enrofloxacin.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Enroxil® meat-flavored tablets are administered to animals orally individually in crushed form with food or are forcibly administered to the root of the tongue at a daily dose of 5 mg of enrofloxacin per 1 kg of animal weight, which is: one tablet weighing 0.055 g (15 mg of enrofloxacin) per 3 kg of animal weight, one tablet weighing 0.183 g (50 mg of enrofloxacin) per 10 kg of animal weight and one tablet weighing 0.55 g (150 mg of enrofloxacin) per 30 kg of animal weight.
The daily dose of the drug can be divided into two doses. The duration of the course of treatment is 5-10 days, depending on the course of the disease.
SIDE EFFECTS
When using the drug in accordance with these instructions, side effects and complications are generally not observed. In rare cases, vomiting, increased frequency of bowel movements and softening of feces are possible; these symptoms disappear spontaneously and do not require discontinuation of the drug.
In case of allergic reactions, stop using the drug and prescribe antihistamines and symptomatic drugs to the animal.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Contraindications for use include increased individual sensitivity of the animal to fluoroquinolones and other components of the drug. It is prohibited to use Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor in animals with significant disorders of cartilage tissue development and lesions of the central nervous system, accompanied by seizures.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Special studies of the safety of enrofloxacin use in target animals (cats and dogs) during pregnancy and lactation have not been conducted. The drug can be used in lactating and pregnant females if the benefits of its use outweigh the potential risk.
It is prohibited to use Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor in kittens under 2 months, puppies under 12 months (puppies of large breeds - under 18 months) due to the possible negative impact on cartilage tissue during the period of active growth.
In case of overdose of the drug, animals may experience decreased appetite, depression, vomiting, and disorders. Treatment is symptomatic.
Do not use Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor simultaneously with chloramphenicol, macrolides, theophylline, diarrhea, nerve non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as with drugs containing cations of iron, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, which impair the absorption of drugs in the gastrointestinal tract.
Features of the drug's action during its first use and withdrawal have not been established.
Avoid skipping the next dose of the drug, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
Enroxil® tablets with meat flavor are not intended for use
to productive animals.
STORAGE CONDITIONS
The medicinal product is stored in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, separately from food and feed, in a place protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of 0°C to 25°C.
The medicinal product should be stored in places inaccessible to children.
Unused medicinal product is disposed of in accordance with legal requirements.
The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of manufacture. It is prohibited to use the medicinal product after the expiration date.
