Fipren insectoacaricidal drops for large breed dogs, 1 ml x 4 pipettes
Composition
1 ml of the preparation contains:
fipronil - 100 mg
S-methoprene - 90 mg
Description
The liquid is colorless or yellowish, transparent.
Pharmacological properties
Fipren is a combined contact insectoacaricide, acts on fleas Ctenocephalides spp. at all stages of development, lice Felicola subrostratus, Trichodectes canis, ixodid ticks Dermacentor variabilis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes scapularis, Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes holocyclus, Haemaphysalis longicornis, Haemaphysalis flava, Haemaphysalis campanulata, Haemaphysalis leachi, Amblyomma americanum, mosquitoes Aedes aegypti, sarcoptic ticks Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis, other insects parasitizing on dogs, cats, ferrets.
Fipronil belongs to the insectoacaracides of the phenylpyrazole group. Selectively blocks the work of GABA-dependent chloride ion channels in the membranes of nerve cells of arthropods, leading to disruption of nerve impulse transmission, convulsions and death of ectoparasites.
S-methoprene is an analogue of juvenile hormone, which acts as a growth regulator of insects and suppresses their growth and morphological development at the stages of egg, larva and pupa, due to antagonism with ecdysone, responsible for the growth and development of the larva. The ovocidal effect of S-methoprene is manifested as a result of direct penetration into the shell of laid eggs.
After point application to the skin, fipronil is slowly absorbed (up to 11%) until reaching a low maximum concentration in the blood plasma (Cmax) of about 35 ng / ml fipronil and 55 ng / ml of its main extensive metabolite fipronil sulfone. The maximum concentration of fipronil in the blood plasma is reached slowly (after about 100 hours) and decreases slowly (half-life is more than 150 hours).
Concentrations of S-methoprene in the blood plasma after cutaneous application are below the limit of their quantitative determination (20 ng/ml).
S-methoprene and fipronil together with its metabolite fipronil sulfone are well distributed in the animal's fur within 24 hours after application. Their concentration in the fur decreases over time, but the drug itself can be detected even 60 days after application.
Ectoparasites die mainly as a result of contact with the drug: fleas - within 24 hours, ticks and lice - within 48 hours. The drug is effective against fleas at all stages of their development for 8 weeks, against ticks - for at least 4 weeks after application.
Fipren is a low-toxic substance for warm-blooded animals and in recommended doses does not produce skin-irritating, resorptive-toxic, embryotoxic and teratogenic effects.
Indications
Treatment and prevention of dogs, cats, ferrets with entomoses caused by fleas, lice and lice, acaroses caused by parasitiform mites and the sarcoptic mite Sarcoptes canis, to prevent the attachment and development of ectoparasites.
Contraindications
Do not prescribe to animals with hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug, infectious diseases, exhausted and weakened animals, puppies and kittens under 8 weeks of age, dogs weighing less than 2 kg, ferrets under 6 months of age, productive animals.
Do not use together with other insectoacaricidal drugs.
Method of administration and dosage
The preparation is applied using pipettes directly to dry, healthy skin of animals in such a way that the animal cannot lick it off - to the area of the back between the shoulder blades.
The dosages of the preparation for different types of animals are given in the table.

For dogs weighing more than 60 kg, use a combination of pipettes of different volumes at the rate of 0.067 ml per 1 kg of body weight.
After applying the preparation, avoid contact with water (rain, swimming) on the treated areas for 24 hours.
Repeated treatments are carried out after at least 4 weeks.
Warnings
When in contact with the preparation, general hygiene and safety rules adopted when working with veterinary drugs should be observed. Animals are treated with rubber gloves. After finishing, hands should be thoroughly washed with warm water and soap. If the preparation gets on the skin, mucous membranes or in the eyes, rinse them with plenty of running water.
Within 24 hours after applying the preparation, the animal's fur may be greasy or stick together. During this time, animals should not be stroked, slept with, or allowed to play with small children. Mild itching, hair loss, and reddening of the skin sometimes occur in places where the preparation is applied. In case of increased individual sensitivity and allergic reactions, the preparation should be washed off with water and detergent and, if necessary, antihistamines should be prescribed.
