FIROMAX is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent based on firocoxib, which is a selective inhibitor of COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2). The mechanism of action of firocoxib involves selective disruption of the formation of prostaglandins, which participate in the formation of the inflammatory reaction and the suppression of the proliferative and exudative phases of inflammation. It has an important effect during inflammation and has a very weak effect on the production of prostaglandins, which regulate blood flow and the integrity of the intestinal tract. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. The maximum concentration of firocoxib in the plasma of dogs is reached after 1.25 (±0.85) hours, bioavailability becomes 36.9 (±20.4)%. The maximum concentration of the active substance in plasma is 0.52 (± 0.22) μg/ml. The period of incubation is 7.59 (± 1.53) hours. Firocoxib is fully bound to blood proteins, metabolized in the liver and excreted from the liver via the intestinal tract. Application
To reduce inflammation and pain during treatment of dogs with osteoarthritis; as an anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and antipyretic agent in the perioperative period (surgical interventions, orthopedic, dental and on soft tissues). Dosage
