Composition
100 ml of the drug contains the active substance: ornidazole - 5 g.
Pharmacological action
Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. It is active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica; obligate anaerobic microorganisms: Bacteroides spp. (Including Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgatus), Fusobacterium spp., Veillonela spp., Prevotella spp. (Prevotella bivia, Prevotella buccae, Prevotella disiens) gram-positive microorganisms: Eubacterium spp., Clostridium spp. Aerobic microorganisms are not sensitive to the drug.
By the mechanism of action - a DNA-tropic drug with selective activity against microorganisms that have enzyme systems capable of reducing the nitro group and catalyzing the interaction of proteins of the feridoxine group with nitro compounds. After the drug penetrates the microbial cell, its mechanism of action is due to the reduction of the nitro group under the influence of nitroreductases of the microorganism and the activity of the already reduced nitroimidazole. The reduction products form complexes with the DNA of the microbial cell, causing its degradation, disrupting the processes of DNA replication and transcription. In addition, the metabolic products of the drug have cytotoxic properties and disrupt the processes of cellular respiration.
Application
Treatment of dogs with amebiasis, dysentery, trichomoniasis, trichomonas urovaginitis, giardiasis, balantidiasis, skin infections, sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, endocarditis, peritonitis, liver abscess, endometritis, bone and joint diseases, lung abscess caused by protozoa and microorganisms of the genus Bacteroides sensitive to ornidazole. For the prevention of anaerobic infections after surgery, including after operations on the abdominal organs, perirectal area, gynecological operations.
Dosage
