🐕 OTOFLOKS 🐈
ear drops 10 ml
Composition:
1ml of the preparation contains active substances:
🔹ivermectin - 1mg;
🔹clotrimazole - 10mg;
🔹fluorophenicol - 2.5mg.
🔹betamethasone (in the form of dipropionate) - 1mg.
Pharmacological properties:
Otoflox has antiparasitic, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects. The pharmacological action of Otoflox results from the properties of ivermectin, clotrimazole, fluorphenicol and betamethasone.
✅Ivermectin works on nematodes, ticks, insects and their larvae, enhances the connection of gamma-aminobutyric acid with special receptors on the nerve endings of the parasite, thereby blocking the innervation of the parasite, causing paralysis and death.
Ivermectin leads to the death of the following types of ectoparasites:
Otodectes, Haematopinus, Sarcoptes, Demodex, Gastrophilus, Hypoderma, Linognathus, Damalina, Solenopotes, Hematobia, Psoroptes, Oestrus, Melophagus, etc.
✅Clotrimazole belongs to imidazole derivatives. Clotrimazole has an effect that disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the fungal cell membrane. As a result, the structure and properties of the membranes change and the cells lyse. Dermatophytes, yeasts (Candida, Torulopsis glabrata, Rhodotorula), molds and the causative agents of Pityriasis versicolor and erythrase are sensitive to clotrimazole. Clotrimazole also has antibacterial effects on Gram-positive bacteria (staphylococci, streptococci) and Gram-negative bacteria (Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis) and on Trichomonas vaginalis, Malassezia furfur, Corynebacterium minussimum.
✅Fluorphenicol is a derivative of thiamphenicol, in which the hydroxyl group is replaced by a fluorine atom, which causes its antibacterial activity against bacteria synthesizing acetyltransferases.
Fluorphenicol inhibits protein synthesis in bacterial cells. In the protoplasm it binds to 70S-ribosomal subunits and inhibits the enzymatic activity of peptidyl transferases, thus reducing protein synthesis in the ribosomes of the appropriate bacteria.
Fluorfenicol has a bacteriostatic effect on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, i.e.: Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Haemophilus spp. as well as Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp.
✅ Betamethasone belongs to the group of synthetic glucocorticosteroids and has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antiallergic and antiproliferative effects.
Target animals
Cats, dogs.
Indications for use
Otoflox is indicated for the treatment of small non-productive animals (dogs, cats and ornamental rabbits) with otitis media of various etiologies, including those caused by ectoparasites and/or complicated by fungal or bacterial infections.
Dosage and method of administration
In the treatment of animals with otitis media, the auricles and ear canal are first cleaned of wax, exudate and scabs. Then the drug is injected 2 times a day, necessarily into each ear at a dose according to Table 1 for 5-10 days depending on clinical symptoms.
TABLE 1. Dosage of the drug
- BODY WEIGHT OF ANIMALS - REQUIRED NUMBER OF DROPS
(ONE EAR)
up to 1 kg 1 drop
from 1 to 5 kg 2 drops
from 5 to 10 kg 3 drops
from 10 to 15 kg 4 drops
over 15 kg 5 drops
For better treatment, the auricle is folded in half lengthwise, and its base is lightly massaged.
Contraindications
Do not use the drug in sick and malnourished animals; animals in the relaxation period, puppies, rabbits and kittens up to 10 weeks of age, as well as animals sensitive to the components of the drug.
Do not use ivermectin in sensitive dog breeds (collies and their subspecies: sheltie, bobtail, etc.).
