Pharmacological properties
ATC-vet classification code: QA05 Veterinary drugs used in the pathology of the liver and biliary tract. QC01 Veterinary drugs used in cardiology. The pharmacological effect is due to antioxidant, membrane-stabilizing, anti-ischemic and immunomodulating properties. It prevents the death of hepatocytes, reduces the degree of fatty infiltration and the spread of centrilobular necrosis of the liver, promotes the processes of reparative regeneration of hepatocytes, normalizes their protein, carbohydrate, lipid and pigment exchanges. Increases the rate of synthesis and secretion of bile, normalizes its chemical composition. Tioprotectin enhances the compensatory activation of anaerobic glycolysis and activates oxidation processes in the Krebs cycle while preserving the intracellular ATP fund. The drug activates the antioxidant system and inhibits the processes of lipid oxidation in ischemic areas of the myocardium, reduces the sensitivity of the myocardium to catecholamines, prevents progressive inhibition of the contractile function of the heart, stabilizes and reduces the areas of myocardial necrosis and ischemia, respectively. Improves the rheological properties of blood due to the activation of the blood fibrinolytic system.
Application
For the treatment of dogs and cats with hepatitis of various etiologies, cholecystitis, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy with metabolic disorders, as an additional remedy for ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, and postoperative complications.
Dosage
The drug is administered intravenously, intramuscularly in doses:
species of animals, body weight, dosage per 1 animal, method of administration
dogs up to 5 kg 2 times a day, 0.5 ml intramuscularly
or 1 ml slowly intravenously once a day
dogs 5-10 kg 2 times a day, 1 ml intramuscularly
or 2 ml slowly intravenously once a day
dogs 10-20 kg 2 times a day, 1.5 ml intramuscularly
or 3 ml slowly intravenously once a day

or 1 ml slowly intravenously once a day
cats 3 kg and more 2 times a day 1 ml intramuscularly
or 2 ml slowly intravenously once a day
Intravenously, the drug is administered slowly at a rate of 2 ml/min or dripwise
at a rate of 20-30 drops per minute. A dose of thioprotectin, 2.5% solution for injections is needed
dissolve in 15-150 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution, according to the animal's body weight.
With chronic hepatitis, cholecystitis, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and coronary heart disease
after a 5-day course of injections, thioprotectin is prescribed, tablets for 14 days, and in
postoperative period — within 20 days.
Contraindication
Do not use in animals with kidney failure.
